Morton Feldman's work For Bunita Marcus is now played more often than just about any other piece of his. Currently in the works is a DVD of the piece performed by Aki Takahashi with an additional conversation between Aki Takahashi and Bunita Marcus.

Here (above) Morty gave me the basic idea of the subdivision of a sound. I saw how each sound and the placement in the line gave each pitch a distinctive subdivision. A subdivision of --3-- was more relaxed than one of --5--. The excerpt below from my "Solo" for flute shows how articulation, breathing and intensity are all shaped by the subdivisions and this shaping aids the inner expression of the melody.
